Residential Interior + Exterior Design
Project Info

TDG Architects was commissioned to design a modern contemporary single family residence in western New Providence, tailored to meet the evolving needs of a growing family. The clients envisioned a four bedroom, three and a half bathroom home that would feel refined and current, while still embracing subtle Bahamian architectural influences. Our scope included full exterior architectural design, facilitation of Construction Administration services, and the development of an interior design direction to guide the homeowners throughout the furnishing and finishing process of the internal spaces. The project was successfully completed in 2022.

Concept Development
In response to the clients’ vision for a modern contemporary home with subtle Bahamian character, the design direction centered on creating a residence that felt refined, climate responsive, and well suited for family life.
A composition of clean intersecting volumes establishes a strong yet welcoming presence, anchored by a prominent two story entry element balanced by a lower horizontal wing. Deep roof overhangs with exposed rafter detailing provide shade and reference traditional Bahamian architecture in a simplified contemporary form.
The crisp white façade, paired with dark window frames and roofing, reflects the clients’ preference for a timeless modern aesthetic while ensuring durability within the island environment.
Spatial Planning
The interior layout was guided by clarity, openness, and functionality for everyday family living. Shared spaces were positioned to encourage connection and flow, while private areas were thoughtfully arranged to provide comfort and separation when needed.
A central living zone anchors the home, enhanced by generous natural light and a strong visual connection to the outdoors. The open plan approach supports both entertaining and daily routines, creating a seamless relationship between kitchen, dining, and living areas.
Overall, the spatial organization reflects a balance between openness and privacy, allowing the home to feel expansive while remaining comfortable and practical for a growing family.
Final Touches
The interior design direction emphasized a calm, cohesive aesthetic that complements the architectural framework. A light neutral palette was selected to enhance natural brightness and create a timeless foundation for the home.
Material selections and lighting were guided by simplicity and refinement, reinforcing the modern character while maintaining warmth and comfort. Throughout Construction Administration, careful oversight ensured that the design intent was carried through to completion.
The result is a thoughtfully executed contemporary residence that reflects both the clients’ vision and the island context in which it sits.
